KCA University Vice-Chancellor Noah Midamba departs next month after 10 years at the helm of the institution.

Prof Midamba, a distinguished scholar, told the Business Daily in an interview on Wednesday that his contract ended in December 2020.

“I will be leaving towards the end of next month after serving for a period of 10 years. The institution is currently looking for a new vice chancellor to take over from me. We expect the exercise to close soon” he said.

Prof Midamba is the second VC to head the institution after taking over from Prof Daniel Oruoch in 2010.

In 2014, he was decorated with the International Award on Outstanding Contribution to Education by the Advisory Council of World Chancellors and Vice Chancellors Congress in India for his role in Kenya and Africa.

He is credited with spearheading the review of university admission and placement, a move that led to the creation of Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to replace the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

Before joining KCA University, Prof Midamba was the CEO and senior partner at US-based International Education and Consulting Services.

He holds a PhD in Defense and Foreign Policy, a master’s degree in International Relations and a bachelor’s in Business Administration.

The Kenya College of Accountancy was established in 1989 by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya after a study revealed that the country’s economy needed at least 400 qualified accountants each year at a time its output was less than 100.

In 2007, the college received the Letter of Interim Authority from the Commission for Higher Education to become KCA University and was awarded a charter to operate as a full-fledged university in 2013.
